Ghost and Door Party is the musical duo of Jessamyn Luong and Charles Klamut. She's a college English professor; he's a priest. "An odd combination, but somehow, it works," someone once said. Another listener has described their songs as "existential nursery rhymes."

As a thirty-something, mostly acoustic-based male/female duo, they've been compared to the likes of Over the Rhine, Swell Season, and The Civil Wars. However, their lyrics lean more toward the heavy existential themes found, for example, in Radiohead. Also, while many of their songs are piano/guitar combinations with vocal harmonies, others lean toward rock and even the type of folk-punk akin to Ani DiFranco. Jessamyn's unique voice contains notes of sadness and longing which mingle with its striking purity and clarity. Charles brings an indie-rock vibe and ambitious guitar playing into the mix.

Amid today's web-based internet musical free-for-all, where marketing titles seem more and more meaningless, perhaps "existential alt-folk" may be the best description.

"Ghost and Door Party" is experience-driven songwriting that wrestles with the contradictions of existence. This is their self-titled debut album.
